My Walk in the Wisdom of God

A Poem by Pamela D. Rodgers

August 10, 2026·3 min read·Pamela D. Rodgers

The Wisdom of God is not earned, purchased, or achieved through human effort. It is a gift — freely given to everyone who simply asks. James 1:5 makes it plain: if you lack wisdom, ask God, who gives generously without finding fault.

This poem is a bold declaration of what it looks like to walk in that wisdom — to ask without hesitation, to serve without reservation, and to trust God’s ways above your own understanding.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

— James 1:5 (NKJV)

My Walk in the Wisdom of God

IF YOU LACK WISDOM, ASK… YOU MEAN I DON’T HAVE TO WORK FOR IT, PAY FOR IT OR SOME OTHER OUTRAGEOUS TASKS FOR IT?

HOW CAN I NOT ASK FOR WISDOM WHEN HE PROMISES TO GIVE IT TO ME LIBERALLY, TO NEGLECT THIS WONDERFUL GIFT IS LIKE ASKING FOR DESTRUCTION WITH OPEN ARMS, I MEAN LITERALLY!

WISDOM IS OF VALUE; I KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE BECAUSE IT’S AN IRREVOCABLE ANOINTED GIFT THAT COMES DIRECTLY FROM YOU!

LORD IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE IN NEED OF A WORD OR TWO OF WISDOM, PREPARE ME FIRST, PREPARE MY HEART, THEN GO AHEAD LORD AND SEND THEM.

I ACCEPT MY ASSIGNMENT OF SERVING YOU, IT IS THE GREATEST AND WISEST THING THAT I CAN DO!

I WILL NOT LEAN TO MY OWN UNDERSTANDING, ACKNOWLEDGING YOU IN ALL OF MY WAYS, MAKING WISER DECISIONS IN EVERYTHING AND SEEKING YOU AND YOUR WAYS…

THANK YOU, LORD FOR LOVING ME!

Walking Worthy Reflection

Ask. Receive. Walk in It.

God does not make you work for wisdom, earn it through suffering, or prove yourself worthy of it first. He gives it liberally — that means abundantly, generously, without holding back. The only requirement is that you ask in faith.

And when He gives it, He gives it with purpose. Wisdom is not just for your own benefit — it is an anointed gift meant to be poured out in service to others. When someone needs a word, God prepares the vessel first. That vessel is you.

Prayer

Lord, I come to You today asking for Your wisdom — not my own understanding, not the world’s advice, but Yours. Prepare my heart to receive it and prepare me to pour it out in service to others. I will not lean on what I think I know. I acknowledge You in all of my ways and trust You to direct my path. Thank You for loving me and for giving so generously. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
